Larco Mar, Miraflores (www.larcomar.com): after Machu Picchu, this is apparently the place most visited by tourists in Peru. A shopping mall overlooking the sea in an amphitheatre on the cliffs, it sells some of the best alpaca clothes, as well as having everything from bookshops to bowling alleys to jungle-fruit ice cream. It’s certainly one of the best places to see the sunset. If you are brave, a five-minute walk along the cliffs takes you to a place where you can learn to paraglide (about $50/£31 an hour).
